The Town of Johnston is currently working with the State of Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency (RIEMA) to assess the extent of damage and costs resulting from the storm/tornado that occurred on August 18th, 2023.
Johnston homeowners and businesses effected by the storm are asked to
email any incurred costs to Chief Mark A. Vieira, Johnston EMA, at EMA@johnstonpd.com.
The e-mail must provide your property address, contact information, and a description of your incurred damage or costs directly related to this weather event. Also submit by email any costs or assessments from your insurance provider or vendors providing service or quotes (other damage should be listed with a “best estimate”).
If available, please provide photographs to support the damages.
Damage/costs include but are not limited to:
- Structural damage to residence/buildings or outbuildings
- Property damage (vehicles, landscape & outdoor furniture)
- Debris removal
This damage assessment is necessary to determine if the threshold was met for a Federal Declaration by which the State would be eligible to receive assistance and potential funding for costs related to the storm. Although funding is not guaranteed, this is the first step in the process to recoup incurred costs.
If you are unable to email your damage assessment, please contact Chief Mark A. Vieira at (401)757-3116 in order to make arrangements to submit your documentation.
The island portion of Memorial Park will be closed to patrons beginning on Monday, September 11th, 2023, until further notice. We anticipate the island reopening in early October.
